I received a comment asking the cost of an in-home nebulizer which I totally should have added to my nebulizer FAQ post!

An in-home nebulizer ranges in price, anywhere from $30 (for a standard model, many of which are only compatible with mouthpieces and therefore can't be used for small children) up to $900 (for the battery operated portable models). For different masks to fit the faces of newborns, infants and small children, there will be additional fees incurred. We paid $50 for ours with insurance and our model would retail for $450 should we not have had insurance -- it was a scary phonecall our doctor made to our insurance company for us in the days we were receiving our nebulizer and prescriptions! These costs are absolutely unfair and not an option for so many without resources or insurance and it's truly a tragedy -- especially when you consider how here in the US, older model nebulizers are left to sit in landfills despite the fact so many people could still use them.

As far as nebulizer medication goes, there are so many different types, brands and dosages to give a ballpark price, but Ethan's two 30-day supply medications would be $67 each should we not have insurance. We do and therefore only pay a $10 co-pay.
