11:00 a.m.

Ethan has always hated his nebulizer treatments. Well, up until recently. These days, he'll carry over his nebulizer mask to me and say "momo?" (Elmo.) Ethan has never actually watched television before (gasp, shock, horror!). We were just never big TV people -- up until I was pregnant, put on bedrest and gave in to the world of trashy reality television. I swear, I tried to keep it classy for as long as possible, reading books and watching The Waltons until I just gave in to Bravo. I'm trying to cut back on my television intake but that's neither here nor there right now -- we're talking about Ethan, and how he's never watched television. When he was younger, people suggested putting on TV for him and it never interested him. He wouldn't watch and he'd just scream through all of his treatments. Talk about breaking my heart even more than I thought was possible, right?

Now that he's older, we put on the Sesame Street channel on YouTube and Ethan runs through his playlist of favorite videos, which are the perfect length to accompany a nebulizer treatment. It all started on accident when my husband and I discovered that Feist did a spot on Sesame Street. Something about this song totally captivates Ethan. He can recognize it from the first second it begins.

At first I was cool with this because, hey, Feist is cool. And his other favorite video by Adam Sandler? He's cool, too -- his wife graduated from my high school! But then these songs kind of infiltrate your brain and I can't even remember the last time I went to sleep thinking of something other than penguins just back from the shore, monsters walkin' 'cross the floor or shrimp holding a barbel-mo.

  1. Go Lindsay! You're helping so many children - and their parents - with your blogging and fundraising. I'm enjoying watching your progress while visiting my mother in Kentucky.

  2. Hahahaha oh, dear... as someone who had never seen that Feist video, holy crapola for all things completely and entirely adorable!!!! Ethan has great taste. I love Feist, too, but so much more after having seen that.. though I can definitely see how that might drive you just the slightest bit crazy when played ad nauseum the way young children insist on having it served ;)
